Are you in a habit of checking the weather frequently? Wouldn’t it be nice if you could get those weather updates in Google Chrome without ever leaving the current tab?
Well, you’re in luck because we have compiled this list of extensions that show you the weather updates right from Chrome’s top bar. This helps you avoid distractions by staying focused on the page you’re working on.
1. Weather Forecast
Weather Forecast gives you an experience similar to that of a weather forecast mobile app. You can see the current temperature on the extension icon in the top bar without needing to open any window.
The extension lets you bookmark multiple locations by checking the star next to the city names. And you can check the detailed weather forecast for each location by clicking on the extension icon and browsing the popup window. You get hourly, ten-day, and monthly forecasts.
This weather extension is powered by a reputable source, Weather Underground, making the reports reliable and accurate. Additionally, it lets you check the weather in your region through radar and satellite views. Through these views, you can see the weather patterns and unusual conditions emerging around the corner.
Weather Forecast has a settings menu that allows you to change units for temperature, along with the ability to set the frequency of forecast updates. And for further personalization, you can also adjust the size of the pop-up window that appears when you click on the extension icon.
2. World Weather
World Weather has a minimal interface without too many overwhelming details. You can add multiple locations through its settings menu and get information like temperatures across different times of the day, pressure, humidity, visibility, and precipitation chances.
Like Weather Forecast, you see the current temperature right on the extension icon. If the readings seem off, you can change the units of measurement from the settings to make things more familiar.
World Weather provides a three-day weather forecast in its extension pop-up. However, you can view the report for ten days via its website by clicking the link at the bottom.
3. Forecastfox
There are three ways to check the weather with Forecastfox: an extension icon, an extension pop-up, and a forecast bar in the top-right corner. The icon only shows the temperature, the bar shows more details, and the pop-up window offers complete information.
Additionally, the pop-up window has a radar that shows real-time weather conditions around the world, helping you check upcoming weather spells and formations. The extension provides various customization options in the setting menu. You can change the location and units, choose icons from the list, and do more. It also lets you turn off the forecast bar if you find it obtrusive.
4. Weatherly
Weatherly provides a graph-based weather forecast that shows the minimum and maximum temperatures across the seven days of the week. You can analyze the forecast trend using this graph.
The extension lets you search for a specific location in its pop-up window and get details like humidity, pressure, wind, sunrise and sunset times, and more. The customization options are pretty minimal, but you can change the units and extension theme.
All in all, Weatherly is a simple extension that provides to-the-point information with only brief details. It is a good choice if you’re just looking for an overview of the weather.
5. WorldWeatherOnline
WorldWeatherOnline, like Weatherly, provides concise weather reports. In addition to the forecasts, it keeps a record of the past weather. By default, you get a three-day weather report, but you can also check a ten-day forecast by clicking the link at the bottom.
WorldWeatherOnline’s pop-up window shows details like precipitation index, air pressure, visibility, and humidity. Moreover, the real-time temperature is displayed on the extension icon for a quick view.
The extension supports multiple locations, which you can add in the settings. It lets you easily switch between the selected locations by clicking on the left and right arrows next to the city name. Additionally, you have the option to change the units and theme according to your preference.
6. Gismeteo
Gismeteo is a minimalist weather extension that provides only the necessary details. You can check hourly weather or switch to the daily tab to see the five-day forecast. If you need more information, there is an option to view a ten-day report on its website.
Gismeteo offers information, including chances of rain, wind speed, pressure, humidity, and more. And as with all the extensions on this list, you can view the current temperature on the icon.
The extension lets you change the temperature, wind units, and time format. You also have the option to switch between other available languages.
How to Pin a Chrome Extension to the Top Bar
When you add an extension to Chrome, its icon is hidden in Extensions (Puzzle icon) by default, which is on the right of the search bar. So, the extension icons that we mentioned earlier won’t be visible unless you pin them to the top bar.
